Digital toolbox for vector field characterization

Abstract Vectorial structured light fields have displayed properties advantageous in many disciplines ranging from communications, microscopy and metrology to laser cutting characterizing quantum channels. The generation of these has been made convenient through the implementation nanophotonic metasurfaces amongst other static digital techniques. Consequently, detection characterisation is equal importance. Most existing techniques involve using separate polarization optics correlation filters perform projective measurements – or are only able such on a subset possible vector states. We present compact, fully automated measurement technique based micro-mirror device (DMD), which facilitates complete, local global, spatial mode degrees-of-freedom (DOFs) for arbitrary vectorial fields. demonstrate our approach identification relevant hybrid-order Poincaré spheres, reconstruction state vectors as well recovery non-separability states-of-polarization variety beams.
